Private Lessons
Private lessons are a really great way to learn yoga that’s customized for you and your unique situation. Historically, yoga was taught one-on-one, and while public classes are a great way to join and contribute to your yoga community, private sessions are good for a variety of things:
Working with physical constraints
Personalized sequences broken down for home use
Renewing the energy you bring to yoga with a private session
These one-hour sessions are scheduled by contacting Pat to set up a convenient time. The classes offer you the chance to transform your yoga practice through the extra time spent learning in a way that resonates with you. You're provided with the sequence, enhanced by Pat’s personal drawings showing both the pose and the breath, and using her special “segmentation” hints and tips.
While practicing for an hour or more a day would be great, Pat knows that life doesn’t always work like that, and her private sessions give you the benefit of “a twist” - a lesson that's segmented to fit – not only your body but your life.
Group Lessons & Public Classes
Basic classes reinforce your knowledge of yoga. “From the ground up” is more than a catch-phrase. It’s a way of teaching that starts at your foundation, with basic poses, and helps you create a system of yoga that works with your body, where you’re at, right now. You'll learn to listen to the little fireflies - those nudges and intuitions that tell you that you're becoming more in tune with yourself and your body.
Prenatal Yoga classes take you from conception to birth (and post-partum, when you’re cleared for practice). Prenatal yoga emphasizes safety in the poses during the trimesters, and uses props liberally so that you get maximum benefit with maximum safety for you and baby. All pregnant persons can benefit from prenatal classes, and the earlier you start, the better. These classes are offered upon request, so if you are interested, please contact the studio. Please check with your doctor or midwife to find out if prenatal classes are suitable for you.
Flow Motion classes take you one more step along in your practice. Offering more options to help you deepen or modify your poses, you learn to recognize your edge and work within safe limits in each pose. The class accommodates a wide range of experience, from beginner to advanced, focusing on linking breath to movement.
Yin classes instill quiet. You learn to become the pose. You learn to find the still-point in your mind and your body. While you never quiet the chatter entirely, you learn, in Yin, to breathe through the chatter, and let gravity do its work within the poses. This is an ideal class to add to a Yan practice – where you’re perhaps taking an energetic class and you need just the opposite to balance things out: a slow practice that helps you to gather energy rather than expend it.
Yoga for Midlife
Yoga for Midlife is Pat's signature program to help those dealing with the insomnia, hot flashes and mood swings of midlife. This is offered in a one-hour private session held over Zoom or occasionally to groups in a 6-week series once a week for 1 hour, with the minimum group size of 4 - also held over Zoom. The private lesson is $80/hour and the series is $25/class or $150 for the series.
