About Pat Perrier & Yoga "...with a twist"
Pat came to yoga because arthritis was getting a foothold – and a hip-hold, hand-hold and back-hold! She adheres to the dictum “use it or lose it,” and found yoga to be a great way to regain mobility, balance and ease in her body.
Along the way, she became fascinated by the more spiritual and historical aspects of yoga; she listened to the "nudges" of her friend and mentor Galey, as well as those little firefly sparks going off in her mind, and followed a suggestion to start teacher training. For her full story, click here.
She began to study more seriously and then entered teacher training, completing her 200-hour certification at Prairie Yoga Teacher Training. She has since completed a certification in “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” and her 500-hour training, as well as her 85-hour Prenatal training.
With over 1,000 hours of “on-the-mat” teaching, Pat is recognized as E-RYT - “experienced.” This designation means that she can provide continuing education and workshops to other teachers and can be a Lead Trainer of a 200-hour teacher training.
Her style is Iyengar-based, with emphasis on alignment and her own twist on “getting the pose into your body.” She believes that yoga is for anyone and that it’s important to know where your body is in time and space. Her touchstone in class is to repeat a pose and refine the alignment based on where the student is in their journey.
Her studio is a safe space. All are welcome. ALL means all. Yoga is for EVERY body, and all are welcome to practice in this safe space.
She has been told that she “lights up” when talking about yoga and its benefits. With a sense of play and a smile, Pat guides her classes using a blend of theory, history, fun, and fact. Her students learn and grow, adapting their practice to their bodies and their own unique functionality.
Her work with Young Living Essential Oils is remarkably simple - no “amazing story” or “magic.” She wanted a more natural, basic approach in her studio and in her home. She prefers to use natural products for cleaning, aromatherapy, beauty products, and on her pets, as well as to generally remove as many environmental toxins as she can from her home and the studio. She noticed her own “healthier” reaction as well as the reactions of her students and her pets (the pets particularly love a Lavender rub before a thunderstorm!) and has been dedicated to spreading the word ever since.
